The True Meaning of Hijab by Natou Bamba

"Modesty is the best jewel of a woman"- Fatimah Al-Zahra

Often times I would get questions like,

“Why do have to cover your hair?”

Or,

“Aren’t you hot in that thing?”

And I would always reply to them saying that it was apart of my religion and that I have to.

However, I feel like that’s not the case.

Wearing the hijab is to show modesty amongst us muslim girls

And to save our beauties for our future husbands.

It’s also to express our muslim identity when we are outside.

For the sweating part, I’ve already gotten use to wearing the hijab.

I started when I was nine years.

I remember when i was little, and I would get hot in it, I would just whip it off my head, and, just put it back on, later.

However, when my mom found out she said to me,

“It’s either on for good, or off for good”

So I decided to give it a try.

After, awhile I got use to keeping it on and

Mashallah meaning “God willed it”, It’s still on my head even to this day.

So I know now that if someone asks me “why do you have to cover your hair?”, I would tell them that,

Modesty is the best jewel of a woman, and that’s the

Hijab.
